If you are interested in beginning your genealogical search or even if you have already begun to explore your family tree, speakers will help you speed up the process. Learn to search U.S. armed Forces records, newspaper obits, and even old Wanted posters! Previously published family histories and interviewing family members is also useful. Nathan Reiss, who is a resident of Highland Park, has been engaged in the study of genealogy for over 35 years and to date has found over 12,000 relatives. In 1980, he authored a book on his own family history, and he has recently updated it with a new 1,100 page edition. In 1997, he became Chairman of the Genealogy Committee of the Jewish Historical Society of Central Jersey, in 2002 he was elected Vice President, and from 2003 until the present he has served as President of the Society. From 1996-2001 he also served as President of Congregation Etz Ahaim, a Sephardic congregation in Highland Park.
