Poetry Writing Workshop

Conducted by Poet Maxine Susman
Wednesday, February 2, 2022, 11:00 am

Poet Maxine Susman will conduct a poetry writing workshop via Zoom. Participants will discuss a provocative sample poem or two, join in some group brain-storming, and start the draft of a new poem, with time at the end to share their work. Maxine Susman was born and raised in New York before moving to New Jersey in her 20s. She lived in Highland Park for many years, and raised her daughter and son here. Now she lives in nearby Kingston. She retired some years back from Caldwell University, where she was an English professor. Since then she has been giving poetry classes, and teaching an ongoing poetry workshop at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute of Rutgers University. Her work appears in many journals, including Paterson Literary Review, Fourth River, Slant, Journal of New Jersey Poets, Presence, and Crab Orchard Review. She often writes about the natural world, health and illness, art, and animals, including people.
