Artist Mort Farrah
Artist Mort Farrah, a retired urban planner, was raised in Atlantic City and is celebrating the Jersey Shore in his new exhibit. The Highland Park artist has a whimsical eye and his acrylic, oil, pen and ink, watercolor and graphite pencil works are pulled from memory.
“I was born and raised at the Jersey shore and as a result my subject matter often reflects the seashore and all things related,” Farrah said. “My memories of the boardwalk, beach and ocean focus on people having a lot of fun and of course the wild colors and bright lights that are so prevalent.”
Farrah retired from his urban planning career in 2002 and intensified his life-long drawing interest with art courses at Rutgers Mason Gross School of Fine Arts and with showing his work at local art fairs and exhibits.
He is a member of the Highland Park Artists Cooperative and in 2005 won first prize in acrylics at the annual East Brunswick Art Fair.
