Collage: Unwrapped
Nancy Scott and Ahuva Arie each created separate pieces for Collage: Unwrapped. The works are all collages made up of mixed media pieces assembled with found objects, photos, fabric, handmade paper, paint, newspapers, magazines and even words.
According to Arie, a West Windsor resident, who came from Tel Aviv in 1970, her early experiences in Israel have influenced much of the content of her art work.
“By combining watercolor painting with collage materials, I am able to add a new depth and a sense of intrigue to my pieces,” Arie said.
“Creating a collage or work in mixed media is very much like writing a poem,” Scott, who has published four books of poetry, said. “I often find thematic inspiration from the same sources – newspapers, catalogs, books, photographs: then mostly through trial and error I search for the right words/images to realize the idea that begins to take shape.”
