Learn the basics of bookmaking by creating one structure called a Twirling Palm Puppet Book from start to finish in a two hour workshop with artist, Amee J. Pollack.Children six years of age and up are invited to come with an adult or adults can come by themselves to make their own book. The workshop is limited to 20 participants. Materials will be provided for one book per participant. Sponsored by the Highland Park Arts Commission and the Highland Park Public Library.
Amee J. Pollack is a book artist and collagist who earned her MFA in Book Arts and Printmaking from The University of the Arts in Philadelphia in 1994 and a fellowship from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. Her artists’ books and prints, published under “Spitz and Pollack”, are in over 50 permanent special collections such as the Brooklyn Museum, Cooper Hewitt Design Museum (Smithsonian), New York Public Library Print Collection, The Getty, and Yale University. Currently she advises Visual Arts students at Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University in New Brunswick.
