Dr. Marvin Perry, a retired professor from the History Department of Baruch College and an author of many books including, World War II in Europe: A Concise History and co-author of Antisemitism: Myth and Hate from Antiquity to the Present, recently wrote a short play, Heroic German Women, 1943, about an actual incident that occurred in Germany. In 1943, the Nazi regime wanted all Jews to be sent to labor camps including those Jews married to Germans. Jews married to “Aryans” were placed in an old Jewish Community Center. Their non-Jewish wives staged a rebellion and demonstrated outside the center for their husbands to be released. This is a reading of the play about this historic event. A discussion will follow.
