Presentation and Slide Show
Thursday, April 2, 2020, 6:30 pm

Follow The Beatles to America after their phenomenal rise in the United Kingdom! John Paul Groom grew up in Liverpool and went to the same high school as Paul McCartney and George Harrison. He went to the same Sunday school as John Lennon and belonged to the same youth club where Lennon met McCartney. His 90 minute program includes song clips and information on their careers both positive and negative. Included in this program is their appearance at the Royal Variety Show, their appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show, and their entering films with “A Hard Days Night”. Their song writing careers as well as the major accomplishments of their albums, Rubber Soul, Revolver, and Sgt. Pepper will also be explored.
On the less positive side, there’s the Maharishi interlude, the “Jesus” controversy, the death of their manager Brian Epstein, the disaster that was “Magical Mystery Tour” and the Beatles as naive, inexperienced businessmen. Groom will end the program with each member pursued after the break up of the Beatles.
