Poem Portraits from a Gold Star Father

William Koch Jr , a Gold Star father, will be exhibiting Poem Portraits in honor of his son CPL Steven R. Koch in the Meeting Room of the Highland Park Public Library from Sunday, January 29 through Tuesday, February 28, 2017.

“My poem portraits are a clear and simple presentation of images with verse to express sorrow, pride, patriotism, loneliness along with a multitude of feelings about family loss, courage and compassion “ Mr Koch said. “Some of the pieces are in one of my 3 books, but most are newer renditions of plight, life, death and existence.”

Mr. Koch will read will read from his three books, Patriotic Passion, Oh Conscience, and Casualties of War on Saturday, February 18 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.

In all three books, William Koch Jr. writes about dealing with the loss of his son, CPL Steven R. Koch, in Afghanistan. “This collection of verses and short poetic stories are what I see and feel around me at dark and painful times that can only be experienced through similar losses of loved ones too early or tragically,” Koch said about his books. The author will also be signing books at this event.
